Oshkosh, Wisconsin 2010

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Currently, we're doing a survey to determine how many SWBB members would be interested in caravaning and/or attending a rally at Oshkosh next year during the above dates.

The rally will be typical SWBB format, much like our Quartzsite Rally -- boondocking, pot lucks, Brisket Night, evening campfires, volunteer hosted entertainment, etc.

IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND, PLEASE USE THE FORM TO THE RIGHT TO LET US KNOW.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND, BUT ARE NOT SURE YOU CAN, PUT YOUR NAME ON THE LIST ANYWAY TO HELP US GAUGE OVERALL INTEREST.

WHEN DETAILS ARE FINALIZED WITH THE EAA/OSHKOSH EVENT ORGANIZERS, RESERVATION INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE POSTED HERE.  YOU'LL BE ABLE TO MAKE YOUR FINAL DECISION THEN.

Preliminary information:

Shane Fedeli provided the following information.

“ I spoke with Alan Ritchie about your plans for 2010 and he's assured me that we can get "whatever we need" at Camp Scholler. He sits on the board at EAA and has been instrumental in the rallies we did in 2007 and again this year. They have plenty of real estate out in the "back 40" where we could gather. The "circle" arranagement would not work due to fire regulations. A street grid is maintained in the camp, but we are able to use cones to kind of shut down cross traffic through our "neighborhood". The sooner that we get working on this, the more that they can do for us and the better our sites would be (closer to the action). I'd suggest that you have all members join EAA for the $40 fee- it's easlily made up in discounts on admission and on camping too. As far as meals go- I'd stick with the Q concept of pot lucks two or three nights and FYO's (find your own) most other evenings. We can do the large campfire in an empty site.

Since we are going as a group, many of the "requirements" as far as length of stay, lot size, etc... don't apply to us. As said before, the dates for next years fly-in are July 26th to August 1st. We can arrive early on Thursday the 22nd or 23rd and stay until Monday the 2nd of August.

Join EAA: The cost is $40.00. That amount will be saved with EAA discounts on admission and on camping too. Also makes is easier for check in.

Parking: Dry camping is $25.00/day. This year the cost was $100.00 and the stay was 7 days.  Hopefully we can get the same for the 2010 event.  Parking is on grass, but it is pretty well-drained and I'd bet that we'd be safe as long as it’s not a wet summer.

Fresh Water & Dump:  Available just like Quartzsite.  Job-Johnnies are scattered throughout the camp.

Showers:   There are very clean showers.

Suggested Stay:   Arrive on Friday before the show and stay until Sunday or Monday after it closes.

Shuttles:   Free shuttles take you from the campground to the show, but you can also ride bikes from the camp to the gates of the airport. From there- trams take you around or you can walk. There is so much to do."

PLEASE NOTE:   All fees noted above are 2009 fees and are subject to change in 2010 .  When rally plans are finalized, fees and registration instructions will be posted here.
