THESE ARE THE RULES FOR THE CHILI COOK-OFF.
1. SIGN-UP FOR THE COOK-OFF: Contestants must sign-up for the Cook-Off by using the Chili Cook-off sign-up link on the Chili Cook-Off homepage. Contestants are to provide all their own ingredients, cooking utensils, along with some small bowls or cups and plastic spoons to provide samples of their chili to the tasters.
If your chili tends to be HOT and/or very spicy, please forewarn the tasters. Some people do not handle hot, spicy foods well.
2. DATE OF COOK-OFF: Saturday, January 26, 2008.
3. JUDGING: Judging begins at 4 PM. Voting will be by "Peoples' Choice". Rally attendees will be the tasters/judges for the event. Each attendee will be given five Chili Cook-Off voting tickets. See Kent Barrett for your tickets.
When the time arrives for tasting to begin, each taster will try a sample of each contestant's chili.
After everyone has finished the first round of sampling, there will be an opportunity for everyone to do a second round of tasting. After the second round is finished, the tasters will be asked to vote by placing their ticket or tickets on the table of the chili chef he/she believes made the best chili.
Tasters can vote any number of their five voting tickets on any number of contestant's tables, based on the tasters opinion of each chili sample. If one sample stands out, five tickets can be voted; if five samples tasted good, one ticket per table can be voted.
4. COUNTING THE VOTE: After voting is closed, the tickets for each table will be collected and counted by Kent. The winner will be announced during the BYOB, “and Bring Your Best Hearty Hors D'oeuvres to Share," SOCIAL scheduled for Friday evening.
Plan to keep your chili warm so it can be served during the BYOB, “and Bring Your Best Hearty Hors D'oeuvres to Share," social.
5. PRIZES: The 'Grand Prize' for the best chilI, as voted for by the tasters, is BRAGGING RIGHTS. It's possible we may come up with an award. If so, we'll announce it here, later.
THESE RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME.
